The city of Los Altos, California, is located in Santa Clara County in the San Francisco Bay area. Los Altos, which is Spanish for “the heights,” derived its name from the Altos Land Company in 1906. The company’s original plan was for Los Altos to become a commuter town between Los Gatos and Palo Alto. With over 140 acres of land available, the development of the city began, and by 1952, the city was incorporated. Los Altos became the beginning of several inventors, including Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg, giving Los Alto a unique history.
Aside from its impressive creative roots, Los Altos is a great place for art lovers and museum enthusiasts. Placed throughout the city are over 25 sculptures to admire. While the city owns some, many are on loan from local artists, and they all stand out with their own stories. A few sculptures on display are Dancing Man, Space Dance for Peace, Musical Gambol, and Jasper Priestess. Then at the Los Altos History Museum, guests can dive back into the past with the Crown of Peninsula exhibit or the Agricultural and Garden exhibit.
