Located on the East side of the Bay Area is Fremont, California, a city with a steadily growing population. Incorporated in 1956, Fremont first began as the location of Mission San Jose, founded by Spaniard Father Fermin de Lasuen in 1797. The area rapidly grew throughout the years, particularly during the gold rush era, and by the early 1900s, Fremont became the foremost home of motion picture films. Well-known comedic actor Charlie Chaplin even filmed several of his movies in Fremont, including “The Tramp” and “A Night in the Show.”

Beyond Chaplin’s influences, Fremont has several notable people who reside there permanently. Athletes in the city include US National Champion figure skater Karen Chen, Major League Baseball player and Hall of Famer, Dennis Eckersley, and professional wrestler Ray Stevens. The city caters to more than just athletes, however. Musicians like MC Hammer, Ryan Sinn, Robb Flynn, and Qader Eshpari found residency within the lively city of Fremont. Several more actors, novelists, directors, and artists call Fremont home, making the city a great place full of attractions and interesting people to visit any time of year.
